Bjørn Sagstad, conductor

Bjørn Sagstad is a Norwegian conductor, who has worked internationally with symphony orchestras, sinfoniettas, choirs and professional military ensembles for almost 15 years.
He has made several recordings and has also premiered new pieces for orchestra. This exciting conductor has lately been working more and more with professional orchestras on a Nordic repertoir, and these collaborations have been very successful.
Specialising in choir repertoir in addition to orchestral repertoir, opera and ballet, Bjørn Sagstad provides the full range for any professional orchestra or ensemble.

Family & children concerts
Bjørn Sagstad has conducted and developed several successful orchestra projects for children/families.

ORCESTRAS AND VOICES

Bjørn Sagstad is educated and experienced as a conductor for both orchestras and choirs and is able to give both ensembles what is needed to inspire and make great musical expiriences both for the audience and for the musicians.
First working with the classical repertoire, and contemporary operas, Bjørn has the last years also moved on tho musicals and popmusic crossowers. In the summer 2009, Bjørn conducted the Norwegian premier on Miss Saigon, a production that in 10 days had an audience of close to 15.000 people and outstanding rewies.
International ComMitments
Bjørn Sagstad soes not only thake his knowledge to the profesional scene. Among his international comitements are the work with the Palestinian Youth Orchestra.
Since 2007 Bjørn has been in the Middle East several times, working with different orchestras at the Edward Said Music Conservatoire. He has been touring Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho and Ramallah with these orchestras.
Bjørn also received a grant from the Norwegian Ministry of of Culture, developing a joint concert between a youth orchestra in Ramallah and a youth orchestra in Trondheim, using videoconference technology to be able to “play together”.
